LSL Architecture Ltd successfully obtained Class Q consent to convert an agricultural building into a residential dwelling and provide our clients with their dream home overlooking their land, natural swimming pool and Quantock Hills AONB.
As a former Cow Shed, the design incorporated several original features and retained the character of its former use. The building was clad with timber matching other buildings on-site, however laid vertically to provide a different aesthetic to the single-storey building. The roof was finished with a metal standing seam to follow the other agricultural barns and to match the original construction.
Large window and door arrangements are used throughout the dwelling with a contemporary aesthetic. This approach fills the home with natural light while allowing the residents to enjoy spectacular views across the natural pool.
The building includes several renewable and sustainable measures including enhancements to the building fabric and a large PV array on the roof.
