We were approached by the Owner of the site with the benefit of outline planning approval to design a self-build oak framed home.  We took what was essentially a blank canvas and designed this beautiful oak-framed home, which our client’s adore!

The oak-framed building with a brick plinth and render incorporates a combination of traditional and modern construction methods to achieve a visually appealing and structurally sound design. A base of red brickwork has been used to ground the building, providing durability, strength, and a timeless aesthetic design. Render has then been used above the brick plinth level to divide the building horizontally and mould around the oak bracing.

Oak bracing details have been utilised on the exterior showcasing the natural beauty of the material, while expressing the construction methodology and enhancing the overall aesthetic. The roof features a traditional clay ‘rosemary’ tiled roof with red tones complimenting the home's red brick.

Within the home, the oak frame is exposed to add warmth to the interior. As you enter a glass/oak staircase with a large-vaulted space floods the entrance hall with natural sunlight while bringing together the material palette. At the first floor, the rooms take advantage of the roof space within the roof design, this includes exposed trusses, rafters and purlins along with vaulted ceilings within the master bedroom creating the  ‘WOW’ factor.
