Green Gables, Stoke St. Gregory
This was one of our first projects in the setting up of LSL Architecture Ltd. We were given a design brief from our client to provide additional accommodation for a large family, for them all to have their separate spaces, but ultimately reconvene in the new extension, which would lie centrally within the layout.
The new addition includes a traditional form with a contemporary aesthetic that is designed around a gable that runs into the existing property. The form is expressed with full-height glazing that takes advantage of both views into the garden and frames the spaces internally. The building is wrapped in steel cladding, adding to the contemporary aesthetic and was loved by both our Client and the Planning Authority!
Internally, the ground floor provides a kitchen/dining/living space that brings together the family while at first floor level, a new study space overlooks the gardens and embraces the roof form with the glazing running to the top of the roof, vaulting this space.
