Our clients briefed us to create a single-storey extension to their home with a kitchen and dining space leading onto the south-facing garden. The design was to match the existing buff brickwork of this 'Regency Period' home within a Conservation Area along with the orangery style roof, requested by the Conservation Officer.
The extension blends a traditional and contemporary design approach with stone quoins and headers relating to the stonework of the existing property. Window and door apertures follow a contemporary style with larger full-height openings maximising the amount of natural light. Windows along the side elevation have been positioned to provide equal separation along the façade, following the rhythm of the existing property.
A set of bi-fold doors open onto the southern terrace with a flush threshold between indoor and outdoor space, allowing the homeowner to seamlessly enjoy these living areas.
Our clients enjoy their open-plan living space with a tasteful kitchen that includes bespoke wooden units. The remaining space provides an area for dining and a secondary living space.
